Trooper who tried to ‘stop and shoot’ suicide bomber gets Gallantry Award posthumously

Srinagar, July 25, KNT: A CRPF officer who was one among the 40 troopers killed in Lethapora Pulwama suicide attack will be awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) posthumously on R-Day function in New Delhi, reports said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohan Lal was given the awarded for trying to ‘stop and shoot’ the suicide bomber.

Mohan Lal is among the 131 CRPF personnel who are being awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day 2021.

Pertinently, over 40 troopers were killed when a suspected militant rammed into a CRPF bus coming from Jammu to Srinagar near Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu Highway in February 2019. (KNT)
