Armed men loot cash from Bank in Central Kashmir

Budgam, Mar 24, KNT: Unknown gunmen today barged into the branch of Jammu & Kashmir Bank and looted cash in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Sources said that at least 5 armed men entered into Chandpora branch of JK Bank and fired some shots in the wall. The gun shots created panic among the employees and customers present there.

They said during the melee, gunmen managed to loot cash and escaped from the spot.

This is the 3rd bank robbery incident in Kashmir Valley in this month. Earlier, armed men looted cash from two branches of Grameen Bank in Kunzar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Panzinara area in Srinagar out skirts.

Sources told KNT that gunmen overpowered the security guard and snatched his Bara Bore rifle. The security Guard has been identified as Abdul Rashid Sofi, a resident of Sanoor Kalipora.

A top police official while confirming the incident said they are ascertaining the details. (KNT)
