SSB barracks gutted in Srinagar mid-night blaze

Srinagar, Feb 18, KNT: In a mid-night blaze at least 5 barracks of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were gutted completely while arms and ammunition too were destroyed in the fire incident.

Official sources told news agency KNT that flames emanated from one of the SSB (110 Battalion) barracks at Tatoo Ground Batamaloo area of Srinagar city at around 3AM of Thursday morning.

The fire spread quickly to other barracks, creating panic inside the camp. Fire tenders rushed to spot and doused the fire.

The belongings of SSB men including arms and ammunition were completely destroyed.

An official said that investigation has been started to ascertain the cause of fire.

Pertinently, Sashastra Seema Bal is a border patrol organization. Several of its companies are deployed in Kashmir Valley. (KNT)
