Srinagar, May 15, KNT: A small locality in Srinagar district has become symbol of brotherhood amid the ongoing lockdown in the wake of Coronovirus pandemic.
A group of 20 youth, part of Mohalla Welfare Committee, in Padshahi Bagh are supplying ration to needy and helpless families, irrespective of their religious identity, since March.
These youth, under the guidance of Contractor, Muhammad Iqbal Bhat collect ration, and then distribute it among the needy to ensure nobody sleeps empty stomach.
‘Some other youth came forward and have been helping these youth in humanitarian work to transport ration inside and outside Padshahi Bagh so that poor families can be fed, said Iqbal.
“We distribute ration and essential commodities to poor and needy in Padshahia Bagh and its adjacent areas including, Lasjan, Soieteng, Mehjoor Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Ikhraj pora, and other places in Down town as well, irrespective of religious consideration,” said Iqbal.
“At least 200 families at Padshahia Bagh, 152 families in Lasjan, 25 families in other locations were provided eatables without disparity,” Iqbal said, adding amid the pandemic, committee members were working day and night to help the needy.
Similarly, those outsiders (Non-Kashmiri’s) who are fasting in the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan are also being provided ration in and adjoining areas.
Iqbal appealed those Hajj aspirants couldn’t perform Hajj due to outbreak of this pandemic to utilize that money to help poor and needy. (KNT)
