Srinagar, June 14, KNT: As the fate of the incumbent Srinagar Mayor is hanging in balance, his supporters are accusing BJP of ‘deceit and lies’ to mislead the general people of Kashmir capital Srinagar.

One of the supporters of Mayor is Corporator from Zadibal, Tanvir Pathan who told news agency KNT that BJP has 10 Corporators in the Corporation who are all holding posts in the party and among them 9 are right now staying at a hotel in Shalimar which is owned by former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran.

“Till yesterday Sheikh Imran was calling himself the ‘Mujahid’ and the one, greatly influenced by Mirwaiz family and today he is sitting in the lap of BJP- that very BJP which devastated everything in Kashmir,” Tanveer Pathan said.

He castigated BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul for claiming that BJP has nothing to do with this No Confidence Motion and it has only 4 Corporators. “BJP has 10 Corporators and I can name them. It is the BJP that is using Sheikh Imran to overthrow the incumbent Mayor. This man (Sheikh Imran) who till yesterday was calling BJP anti-Kashmir is now playing in their hands,” he said.

Tanveer Pathan said that BJP has already made it clear that Sheikh Imran is their man. “The party has demanded security cover for the ‘Mujadid’ who is shy of facing media at this juncture.”

“The BJP backed Corporators are accusing the incumbent Mayor of corruption. I challenge them to prove anything. It will be devastating for the people of Srinagar if any BJP man will run Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Srinagar people will never forgive this ‘Mujahid’ who is right now busy in serving ‘anti-Kashmir’ BJP Corporators in his hotel,” Tanveer Pathan told KNT.
