Kangan, Dec 12, KNT: The only Thyroid testing machine in Trauma Hospital Kangan here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is non-operational from past one year, leaving the patients to suffer while the concerned authorities do nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the patient.

Locals told news agency KNT that patients who have to undergo surgery are required to undergo Thyroid test, but they are unable to for such test as the machine in the hospital is defunct much to the disappointment of these patients.

“There are patients with cardiac problems, neuro-surgical problems, obesity and pregnancy and they all suffer due to negligence of the hospital authorities,” said an elderly man Abdul Razak from Kangan.

When contacted, Medical Superintendent, Sub District Hospital Kangan, Dr Salma Bhat admitted that the Thyroid machine of the hospital is lying defunct from past year. “We have raised the issue with Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal and he has assured that a new Thyroid testing machine will be made available in the hospital within week or two,” Dr Salma Bhat told KNT.
