Srinagar, Oct 14, KNT: Awami National Conference patron Khalida Shah Wednesday welcomed the release of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.
In a statement to news agency KNT, the party said that Khalida Shah had a telephonic conversation with Mehbooba Mufti. She termed the incarceration of Mehbooba Mufti as illogical, unwanted and uncalled for after the Narinder Modi Government’s decision of 5th August 2019 that has pushed Jammu & Kashmir into a political crisis nationally & internationally.
“The entire country has been put to risk by the unconstitutional, illegal & arbitrary decision taken at the behest of divisive forces spearheaded by the RSS,” she said.
Khalida Shah laid stress on the historic requirement for a united fight to secure the special status of J&K ‘State’ with honour & dignity.
The ANC Senior Vice President Muzzafar Shah while welcoming the release of the PDP Chief expressed the hope that all political prisoners languishing in jails in and outside J&K are released forthwith along with the AIP chief Enigineer Rasheed.
He said the Gupkar Declaration which has assumed a pivotal significance in all three divisions of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh will leave no stone unturned to get the Constitutional position of the State restored with honour & dignity.
“An overwhelming population of the State is fully backing the Gupkar Declaration cutting across region & religion,” he said adding that the meeting of the Gupkar Declaration signatories will be held shortly. (KNT)
