BJP leaders who visited Bandipora along with Ravinder Raina go into self quarantine

Srinagar, July 14, KNT: Shortly after Jammu Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina was tested positive, his contacts, especially who were accompanying him during Bandipora Kashmir visit quarantined themselves.

Raina was part of BJP team that visited the residence of Sheikh Waseem Bari who along with his brother and father was killed by militants outside his home in Bandipora. BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, Avinash Rai Khana, Jitendar Singh Raina, Ravinder Raina and others had visited Bandipora. The infected Raina even shouldered the coffin of slain BJP activists and talked to Journalists as well.

As the news about Ravinder Raina broke, Union minister of state Dr Jitendra Singh went into self quarantine.

“Have gone into Self-Quarantine with immediate effect from 4 PM today, after receiving the news about Corona positive test of J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina who had accompanied us from Srinagar to Bandipora on 12th July,” Dr Jitendra Singh said in a Twitter post.

Ravinder Raina has been hospitalized in Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty hospital in Kakryal in Reasi district.

Raina while talking to news agency KNT that he has been tested positive but is asymptomatic. He said he might have caught infection in Kashmir because he was in Srinagar and Bandipora and in Valley, the infection rate is more.

Raina had met several people during the funeral of the deceased party leader and other members.

Sources said all BJP national and erstwhile state leaders who accompanied Raina including Ram Madhav will be quarantined and their samples will be taken as per protocol.

BJP Spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, Altaf Thakur said that those leaders who visited Bandipora have self quarantined.

“I am also in quarantine. Besides, Ram Madhav, Avinash Rai Khana and Kashmir Affairs In Charge Vibodh Gupta have also quarantined themselves. All workers who visited Bandipora have been asked to go for quarantine,” Thakur told KNT.
