Srinagar, Mar 24, KNT: Scores of Casual Labourers from Estates Department Wednesday staged a protest against Jammu Kashmir Government for its failure to regularize their services.

A large number of workers of the Department, under the banner of Estates Employees Casual Labour Union assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged protest demonstration. They were demanding regularization of the casual labourers and implementation of Minimum Wages Act in Jammu and Kashmir on Central pattern.

The protesting employees criticized previous Governor’s Administration and BJP-PDP Government for their failure to regularize their services. They said that the Government must ensure their regularization without asking them to participate in the recruitment. They have already given so many time to the department but their services are being ignored which is great injustice to them.

President, Estates Employees Casual Labour Union, Imtiyaz Ahmed told KNT that the PDP-BJP Government issued SRO 520 and initiated process of regularization. The files were also submitted to the Finance department but till today no outcome was witnessed. “Committee has approved everything, but the file is still on table. Only the matter related to our Department is pending while cases of other Departments have been resolved,” he said. (KNT)
