Srinagar, Feb 22, KNT: Former minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Nayeem Akhtar is still facing detention.
Akhtar had been detained by authorities in the last week of December last year. Her family has said that he has facing multiple health issues and even after the expiry of two months, the grounds for his detention are ambiguous.
Shehryar Khanum- the daughter of Nayeem Akhtar as per KNT took to Twitter and wrote: It has been two months since my father was whisked away from home, and detained without any reason. Believe it or not, we still have no answers, no explanations, no indications on his release.”
She termed the detention of her father as “simple political persecution.”
Akthar was also one among scores of political leaders who were detained for months together after the annulment of special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019. (KNT)
